The Sr. Automation Project Engineer develops, implements, and supports process control systems. Performs complex technical work including the design, manufacture and operation of structures, machines and systems. Plans, conducts and directs engineering projects or studies including complete projects requiring advanced knowledge of a specialized field. Applies comprehensive and diverse knowledge of engineering principles and practices within broad assignment areas. Works independently on and studies implementation for large automation projects. Provides complex technical support for project planning, development, implementation, and modification; contributes extensively to engineering standards development balancing corporate and customer needs. Develops process control requirements. Develops and implements process control solutions. Proactively identifies and implements new automation concepts and technologies in order to achieve general objectives. Proposes recommendations for continuous improvement by utilizing knowledge regarding process equipment and chemical processes. Develops plant and site automation plans. Integrates safety, CGMP, environmental, quality and other regulatory requirements into all projects.
Responsibilities of this position include: Lead integration of new automation technology in capital projects; Ability to manage conflicting priorities in multiple projects; Ability to independently identify activities needed to complete a project successfully; Ability to take independent decisions in absence of direct/functional supervision; Identifies and resolves problems in an innovative and creative manner as they relate to plant and site automation; Ability to initiate, design, qualify, and implement large automation projects; Responsible for identifying computerized systems guidelines, standards and procedures for development or revision; Participates in the prioritization and selection of projects; Be the internal expert on computerized systems and related technologies; Exercises independent judgment on significant details of work and makes selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives; Performs work which involves complex conventional types of plans, investigations, surveys, structures or equipment with highly complex features for which there may be no precedents; Demonstrates good overview and understanding of the relation between different process systems within a manufacturing plant; Champion of good documentation practices in all aspects of work; Maintains a strategic knowledge of process control solutions and the ability to utilize this knowledge in solving problems; Teaches project management skills as applied to automation projects; Optimizes usage of internal and external resources and development of working relationships with key people; Be an effective team leader for automation related topics within a project; Participates with management in the selection of annual goals and objectives; Supervises project related internal and external resources; Maintains frequent information exchange with direct / functional supervisor; Carries out duties in compliance with all state and federal regulations and guidelines including FDA, EPA, OSHA and DEA; Complies with all company and site policies and procedures; Assumes responsibility for the environmental effects of work performed and for the identification and recording of environmental problems as they arise; Follows all applicable aspects of the site Environmental Management System as it pertains to normal job duties; Understands and responsibly performs duties with attention to quality, safety and environmental matters; Successfully completes regulatory and job training requirements; Remains current in skills and industry trends; Must be available for overtime work on a scheduled or emergency basis; Is available for other duties as required.
Qualifications
B.S. degree in Engineering or related field with 4-6 years process control experience or M.S. in Engineering or related field with 2-4 years process control experience required. Strong engineering and computerized systems aptitude required. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations required. Ability to write reports and business correspondence required. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry required. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations required. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions required. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables required. Ability to use software and customize programs to meet business needs required. Must be able to perform a variety of duties with the ability to change tasks without loss of production. Must be able to work independently. Strategic skills and proven competency on computerized systems required. Ability to effectively apply teamwork and good communication skills. Ability to foster teamwork to achieve objectives. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is occasionally required to walk, reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and color vision.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
