The Delaware & Southern New Jersey Health Care System is currently recruiting for 2 Part-Time Food Service Workers/Retail Sales Associate, WG-7408-02. This position is located at the VA Medical Center, Wilmington, Delaware, Canteen Service Department. Tour of duty will be Monday thru Friday 7:00am to 5:00pm.

Principle duties and
Responsibilities:
Making a variety of fruits and vegetable salads, simple sandwiches and pack box lunches.
Portions salads, fruits, vegetables and beverages according to menu and census counts.
Works in dishwashing area, stripping trays, soaking dishes, loading or unloading dish machine, storing clean dishes and maintaining water and detergent levels.
Incumbent cleans food service equipment, toaster, grill, coffee machine, mobile food carts, lowerators, walls and floors, etc.
Responsible for tray setups with condiment kits, unitized base, silverware, loose condiments and diet card.
Transports and/or delivers trays to patients according to tray tickets.
Collects soiled trays and transports to dishwashing area after each meal.
Operates toaster, coffee machine, dish machine and floor scrubber.
Responsible for attending classes and meetings in all phases of food service, food production, safety, sanitation, nutrition and courtesy, etc.
The incumbent must adapt work practices to changing situations and needs of the department. Must be flexible and versatile enough to switch from one unit of work procedures to another at a moments notice.
Provides customer service in a retail sales activity.
Demonstrates and sells specialized merchandise to customers.
May operate a cash register, make change, and complete charge transactions.
Maintains merchandise by stocking shelves, displaying goods and keeping the area neat and
rderly.
Keeps related sales records as necessary.
Performs other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS : The position requires performance of work which involves standing and moving about on tile floors for most of tour. Frequently stoops, reaches, pushes, pulls, lifts, or carries food and kitchen equipment. Hand dexterity is necessary in the utilization of machines used to prepare food. May need to lift up to 40 pounds unassisted or more with assistance.
WORKING CONDITIONS : Usually works indoors in kitchen areas where steam and heat from cooking and dish washing equipment often cause uncomfortably high temperatures and humidity. Workers is subject to cuts, burns and falls on slippery floors from mopping and spills.
EXPERIENCE : A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position. Evidence which demonstrates you possess the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of this position must be supported by detailed descriptions of such on your resume or OF-612.
