Years) Director of Network Engineering with extensive experience working with Cisco (They are a Cisco shop), Palo Alto and Cloud/AWS.
The Candidate should come out of VERY LARGE ENTERPRISES (8,000
EMPLOYEES) AND the larger the environment the better.
The more certifications the better.

Job Description:
Managers Notes Team info Network Engineering teams will report to him Manager over the operations in the US and globally Has direct and sub reports (still figuring it out, but anywhere from 1 to many direct reports Max would be 10-15) General Role Makes sure things are solid robust and resilient systems.
Systems are well designed, well maintained, able to handle the demands of the cloud environment in data center and data lakes repository to store and manage data to the cloud and the stable (stable = refers to the reliability and predictability of your systems stable means minimal downtime, consistent performance, free from crashes and unexpected behavior) Need to be able to make sure things are prepared and projects will need to stand up in the cloud There is some aging equipment and will need to know what to do Big focus on oversight and making sure things get done and resources are lined up There are single point dependencies situation in a system where the failure or disruption of a single component can lead to a catastrophic failure and needs someone with a plan for cross training Qualifications Experience handling cloud network connections back into data centers Cisco shop.
Need someone with Cisco experience (We have Palo Alto as a vendor for firewalls and load balancers with citrix) Need to be able to manage the ability to keep people on track (Need to have valid experience as a leader) Needs to be able to get people excited and can challenge them Need an assertive personality and can develop the talent Will need to come from larger companies (at least 7,000 to 8,000 people) that can handle large scale challenges The Director, Network Engineering is an advanced technical leader; responsible for the ongoing, smooth and seamless operations of the network and telephony teams and is the escalation point for all network-related issues.
The ideal candidate will have strong people management experience along with hands-on experience with network equipment, protocols, and tools as well as related infrastructure.
This individual will be responsible for project organization and execution, and will participate in design, vendor evaluation/management, and implementation across multiple projects.
The Director, Network Engineering will provide technical direction and supervision globally in the development, implementation, and support of network systems and make recommendations in areas that require a high level of technical competency.
Responsible for managing and operating the global network.
Provide leadership to effectively manage demands from projects, technology upgrades, and break-fix/enhancements; prioritizes and communicates work to stakeholders.
Support adoption of new technologies and tools and recommend capability improvements to network engineering; effectively research and recommend viable alternatives.
Champion CI/CD methods for configuration variation reduction and minimize direct production access.
Provides leadership and coordination on network engineering projects.
Lead service restoration for crisis/incident management events as needed, complete RCA and problem management steps for full resolution.
Ensure service level targets are met and address any service level deficiencies.
Partner with Information Security to mitigate cyber risk issues and emerging threats.
Responsible for upgrades, patches, as required, and meeting all security and compliance requirements.
Participate in audits and other compliance activities and provide information related to network-specific processes, practices, tools, and configurations.
Identify areas for process and efficiency improvement within Network Engineering; recommend prioritized enhancements and oversee implementation.
Measure and monitor network performance; proactively address issues before they become incidents.
Mentor and develop Network personnel to ensure all staff have the necessary skill sets to perform their job functions and meet departmental and individual goals.
Continue to develop technical and professional skills through trade publications, manuals, seminars, and courses.
Performs all other related duties as assigned.
Is subject to on-call 24 hours, 7 days a week.
Qualifications Minimum of 10 years of demonstrated experience in the management and operation of network and telecommunications services in a large corporate environment.
Bachelor's degree in computer science or information systems.
Minimum of 5 years of experience managing and leading network engineers in 24x7x365 data center and Cloud environments.
Minimum of 5 years of network and infrastructure experience working in a geographically dispersed on-premises data center environment (2
data centers).
Minimum of 5 years of network and infrastructure experience specific to large organizations (5000 employees minimum).
Minimum of 2 years of network experience working in an industry-leading IaaS or PaaS Cloud environment (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud Platform).
Working knowledge of Cisco network equipment, Avaya PBX, and telecom technology (e.
g.
, UVN, Sonet, Frame, SIP, VPN).
Strong network troubleshooting, process workflow, and communication skills.
Proven track record of configuration standardization and use of CI/CD methods.
Ability to lead, manage, motivate, and develop staff, and work collaboratively with other teams.
Ability to exercise independent judgment in planning, organizing, and performing network analytical tasks.
Extensive knowledge of network architecture, protocols and Active Directory is required.
At least 5 years of experience providing enterprise managed network services (i.
e.
Router, Switch, BGP, QoS, VoIP) Must have ability to communicate, motivate, and organize projects among a broad spectrum of personnel throughout the network, frequently under deadline pressure.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to interact effectively with executives, engineers, vendors and peers.
Preferred
Qualifications:
Current advanced network technical certification (e.

, CCIE/CCNP, JNCIE/JNCIS, CCNA/CCDA, CCVP) or other relevant industry certification.
Network Architect experience.
