DuPont Industrial Biosciences is seeking a Bioinformatics Research Associate with experience inNext-Generation Sequence (NGS) data analysis. Industrial Biosciences isan industry leader in providing bio-based solutions to meet the needs of agrowing population while protecting our environment. We create enzymes andother bio-based inventions used by manufacturers to increase the productivityand environmental benefits of nearly 400 consumer and commercial products, suchas foods, beverages, animal nutrition, textiles, household cleaning and fuelfor vehicles. We have major US researchlocations in Wilmington, Delaware and Palo Alto, California, and the locationof this position is flexible with respect to existing research sites.
The successful candidate will be part of multidisciplinary projectteams within a larger community of computational biologists, molecularbiologists, microbiologists, biochemists and biochemical engineers. The successful applicant will usebioinformatics tools and custom pipelines to extract value from large andcomplex datasets that are generated through collaborative researchprojects. The candidate will work with scientistsat multiple locations, will interact with multiple computing environments andwill supportmultiple biotechnology projects.These projects may include protein engineering of enzymes, metabolicengineering of microbes and discovery of novel microbial consortia to benefitanimal and human health. Some examplesof project responsibilities are processing data via existing computationalpipelines, further developing these pipelines to accommodate new data types oruses, developingadvanced scripts to analyze and display genomic data and interpreting complexbiological information. Candidatesshould be self-motivated, thrive in a research team environment, and be eagerto take on new challenges presented by diverse projects.
This position is open to candidates with a Bachelor'sdegree in Bioinformatics or Computer Science and at least 2 years of relevantexperience, or a Master's degree in Bioinformatics, Computer Science or relatedfield. Experience with Biological dataand systems is required and experience with bacteria, yeast or fungi ispreferred. Experience with largeBiological data sets, particularly NGS data is strongly preferred. Experiencewith cloud computing systems, genomics, statistical programming languages,version control systems, web UI development and relational databases ispreferred.
Qualifications
B.S. in Bioinformatics or Computer Science and a minimum of two years of post-graduate experience or an MSin Bioinformatics, Computer Science or related field.
Strong Linux skills and programmingability in at least one of the following: Python, C/C , Java, or Perl, with astrong preference for Python.
Effectivewritten and oral communication skills and demonstrated ability to work in ateam environment.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
