Overall purpose of role:
To lead the planning, development and implementation of our brand marketing, including acquiring new customers as well as managing existing customer marketing campaigns
To lead the creative agency development of the single-minded customer proposition needed to launch and support new business efforts including program launches/re-brands, product facelifts, and customer experiences
Key Accountabilities and Skills required:
Key specific accountabilities.
o Lead our branding agency to develop brand positioning, brand architecture, naming conventions, and visual identity
o Work with internal product teams to develop the strategy for addressing the current Barclaycard customers and work with internal channel teams and corporate comms to develop the strategy for launching new products
o Partner with our agency-of-record to plan and manage the development of the big idea to be used in customer and prospect-facing campaigns
o Identify the customer communications launch requirements across the customer journey and serve as a brand manager in the roll-out across the marketing channels
o Partner with internal team to plan marketing media mix for campaign launches and pulses
o Create and sell in a brand governance system across Barclays that ensures control but also allows for flexibility by product and market
o Work with internal insights team and other vendors to plan brand measurement tracking studies; optimize for performance
o Define ongoing competitive strategic analysis plan and execute strategies to maintain and grow brand presence in the market
o Partner closely with the Branded Products Team to help them achieve their performance goals
o Participate on our Agency Management Team to ensure agency performance, tracking, and feedback
o Participate in our Customer Communications Mailbox Review process to ensure all communications are 1) consistent and integrated across the customer journey to provide a seamless customer experience, 2) are market-leading in their simplicity and transparency and 3) conform to brand guidelines and regulatory requirements
Stakeholder management and leadership.
o Responsible for selling in brand positioning, campaign ideas and creative executions to senior leadership around the Barclays organization
o Lead the colleague engagement strategy and ensure all colleagues are living the brand
o Collaborative with large, cross-functional teams, including legal and compliance
Decision making and problem solving.
o Able to coordinate complex activities involving multiple stakeholders, colleagues and vendors
o Help drive new solutions for better marketing consistency and control
Risk and Control: All Barclays colleagues have to ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework and internal Barclays Policies and Policy Standards
Your Skills and Qualifications will include:
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required
5 years of experience in a major corporation, preferably a credit card bank, supporting marketing and the brand / customer communications strategy
Preferred Qualifications
Credit card marketing strong knowledge of credit card marketing communication requirements
Communications skills excellent comms skills, both written and spoken
Leadership and teamwork works well in cross-functional teams, be able to drive strategic agendas, and make strategic recommendations
Customer focus instinctive approach to understanding what makes effective customer communications, augmented by outstanding observational skills
Brand management understands how great brands are created and built from the inside-out
Creative acumen an experienced and strong eye for multi-channel creative execution
Copywriting expertise able to evaluate and improve advertising copy and customer communications copy
Attention to detail must be able to review materials for accuracy and effectiveness
Value-based business perspective appreciation of commercial consequences of marketing and brand decisions
Competitive positioning breadth of competitive awareness and understanding which drives significantly differentiated communications
Production knowledge detailed understanding of digital, print and TV production
