Duties include but are not limited to:
The purpose of the position is to provide technical oversight in performing data mining from numerous sources, such as, the station's VISN's (VDW) or corporate data (CDW) warehouses for the overall purpose of serving the WVAMC mission. The incumbent is responsible for the design, implementation and evaluation of data mining, auditing and reporting for the purpose of supporting a wide range of projects assigned to others as end users of data. The position supports a wide range of projects that are assigned to others. This is accomplished by designing, and the implementation and evaluation of data mining, and the auditing and reporting of data and information. In addition, the incumbent is responsible for statistical analysis, maintaining standing reports and responding to non -recurring request for information. The work includes knowledge of electronic data files and tables, various software applications, setting statistical standards and reporting formats. Utilizes data sources such as ARC, VSSC, DSS, VA Data Warehouse to develop databases and provide regular reports to senior leadership regarding progress toward accomplishment of program goals and objectives and provides education to staff throughout the Medical Center. Evaluates processes and develops procedures and systems for assessing and evaluating the effectiveness and compliance of the VERA program. Coordinates and oversees the training of Clinical and non-clinical staff in appropriate clinical documentation to ensure maximum VERA reimbursement for the medical center. Incumbent will utilize software applications such as Excel, Access, PowerPoint and SQL to integrate the vast amounts of data residing in the VA corporate and hospital databases into usable reporting systems to provide quantitative and qualitative analysis, education, and data results. Completes facility data initiatives and data requests in a timely manner, participates in special projects and ongoing analyses. Oversees, on an ongoing basis with the technical and program coordinators, assessing all the updates and changes to department costing, checks that budgets, standards, relative value units, and interface map correctly to reflect the current variable and fixed costs. Prepares specific reports using national and regional metrics at request of management including the operation and use of the modules for forecasting, budgeting and modeling and executive decision support. Experience:
You must have one year of specialized experience which equipped you the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position and that is typically in or related to the work of the position being filled. Specialized experience must be equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-11 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
experience analyzing and evaluating the effectiveness of program operations and assisting management in decision making; conducting program analysis, collecting, integrating, and organizing data, preparing reports showing qualitative and quantitative trends and making recommendations to improve overall organizational performance; knowledge of management principles and processes and techniques of analysis and evaluation in order to conduct studies, identify, analyze and recommend solutions to problems; skill in applying fact-finding and investigative techniques to gather clear-cut factual evidence of administrative inefficiencies within clinical service lines or compliance with regulations; gathering information, identifying and analyzing issues and developing recommendation to resolve substantive problems of effectiveness and efficiency of work operations in a clinical or clinical support setting; identifying, compiling and monitoring data and providing analysis of issues and trends including charts, graphs and statistical data, and so forth. Work is normally performed in an office setting with periodic field visits to the field offices. The work area is adequately lit, heated, and ventilated. Work may require occasional travel.
